Introduction to Naturopathic Medicine

Do you want to get a glimpse into the world of natural remedies and naturopathic medicine or broaden your current knowledge? These naturopathic classes offer the opportunity to obtain valuable knowledge that can improve lives in a meaningful way. You will learn natural health techniques and practices to take control of your life through natural, healthy living.

This eight-week series will offer attendees a chance to dip their toe in the benefits of natural medicine and natural health through the holistic approach of naturopathic medicine by creating an environment that teaches and increase the awareness of natural health.

What is a Naturopath?

A Naturopath is a holistic specialist that studies the individual person. They evaluate and assess the person's entire history; medical, mental health, lifestyle, spirituality, and everything that creates the foundation of our individual existence and experiences. Naturopathic approaches health with day-by-day foundational changes, bringing the entire self back into balance and shifting the internal and external forces in order to create personalized health and wellness.

Advanced Plant Care & Cultivation
March 22
Discuss the history, care and partnership, cultivation, constituents, medicinal uses, preparation, and storage of plants. How to start the growth cycle from seed and/or shoot, transplant, and harvest.

Please bring gloves, garden pots if easily available.

Tinctures & Homeopathic
March 29
Discuss the history, preparation, usage, and storage of tinctures and homeopathic remedies. Homeopathic remedies are simple yet powerful remedies that are safe for all ages. Tinctures will cover the powerful herbal effects in the bloodstream with alcohol-based preparations.

Skincare Lotions & Lip Balms
April 5
Learn how to extract and apply herbs into lotions and lip balms to prevent chapped skin, acne, dermatitis, eczema, pores, blackheads, burns, wounds, and abrasions.

Soap Making
April 12
Learn the process of formulating, molding, and creating your very own soaps. You will learn how to maintain moisture, regulate body temperature, protect against skin damage and aging, protect against germs and bacteria, and how to create various soaps for health.

Advanced Teas & Infusions
April 19
Learn proper cold and hot infusions, the process of osmosis, how to identify quality herbs, as well as how to formulate teas with different dried herbs, fruits, and plant material.

Capsules, Gummies, & Antacids
April 26
Learning how to encapsulate, press, and form edible plant medicines for ease, travel, and children. Learn how each method affects the body and how to customize it for your own health care needs.

Health Packs, Wraps, & Soaks
May 3
Learn how to help the body heal when dealing with aches, pains, sprains, inflammation, and bruising.

Advanced Salves, Poultices, & Ointments
May 10
Discussion on the history of poultices, salves, ointments, how to apply them to the body in order to draw out infection, heal wounds and burns, boils, and cysts.

Instructor Bio
Marhea Fay has been working in the Naturopathic Field since 2015 and specializes in Reflexology. She hopes to expand Naturopathic health and wellness in the community through Lifelong Learning classes in partnership with Mid Michigan College.
