Harrison C ampus | Welding Lab 276
This class meets for 6 consecutive Thursdays. Sept 19, 26, Oct 3, 10, 17, & 24 from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Artistic Welding is designed for the welding novice! This class will give the individual an
understanding of safety practices, familiarity of equipment used, metals and how to alter
them for certain purposes, and 3 different welding techniques. During this three hour,
six-week long class students will develop the skills needed to explore their artistic ideas
by creating a fun work of art. What a great way to bring life back into old tools, collected
junk and yard sale finds. Be part of this fun, rewarding welding opportunity!
All welding clothing will be provided by Mid, however students should wear cotton
long sleeves shirts, long pants, closed toed shoes and bring a baseball style hat and
leather gloves (need not be welding gloves.) Students will provide many of their own
items for welding on their second week of class. Instructors will provide additional
details.

Student Experience:
Sue Bergeson
Moving to this beautiful area, I basically knew no one. I started looking for places to connect with interesting people. The Mid Michigan College Lifelong Learning artistic welding class sounded interesting. It certainly was nothing I had ever thought of doing, but it has been a great opportunity to try something new, something that challenges me in completely different ways.
The instructors have been so kind and patient. They have worked with each one of us, encouraging and teaching us based on what we want to do – it's not cookie-cutter. I really appreciate that.
I’ve shown my pieces at several art shows – mostly around Traverse City – and had a lot of fun interacting with folks. It’s a completely new experience.
We all need to try new things, stretch, and grow at every age
