This class will teach you proper, safe and effective ways to clean and repair headstones as well as how to safely document the information on headstones that cannot be cleaned or easily read by the naked eye.

The first part of the class will be dedicated to cleaning of headstones… later in the class will cover repairs. Expect the class to last around 4-6 hours or longer depending on the number of people who attend and the interaction that follows. You will want to bring a chair, gloves, sunscreen and bug spray! There will be a small canopy set up but we may end up in the sun for extended periods.

YOU WILL GET VERY DIRTY! Don’t wear your Sunday best… nothing will ruin your clothes but they will be quite dirty by the end.

The class will be held at Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Right across the street from the high school. The cost for the class is $25 per person. You can contact Past Preservation (989-750-8516) for payment information if you are interested in attending. This will pay for the supplies for the class and a small bottle of D/2 to take home with you. Pre Registration is required so they know how much supplies to bring. Bottled water and some snacks will be provided.
